Units are calculated off the volume and concentration of an ejaculate. Age, recent breeding activity and the breed of the bull can all influence the volume and concentration of an ejaculate.

CGS has several post-thaw standards that each unit must meet in order to be put into production. A unit must be above 40% progressive motility (head first movement) which is determined by our CASA (Computer Assisted Sperm Analysis). The concentration is evaluated based on owners specifications. Primary abnormalities must be below 10% and secondary abnormalities must be below 20%.

CGS does not market or sell any units.

Bull collection frequency is based on volume and concentration of the ejaculate. Bulls are scheduled for collection based on these factors. Typically, bulls are collected twice a week on Mondays and Thursdays.

CSS stands for “Certified Semen Services”. The CSS requirements for semen production are a set of health testing protocols and sanitary standards designed to ensure the health of bulls and the semen they produce. Passing these tests minimizes the risk of spreading diseases through artificial insemination.

We are able to ship CSS qualified units to countries including Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Mexico, Brazil, Uruguay, Ecuador, and South Africa. We are unfortunately NOT able to ship any units to countries in the European Union.

Bulls who go through CSS testing are put into isolation for 60 days while they complete a series of health tests.

If you would like to ship or release any units from your inventory please contact the office with shipping and billing information. We recommend calling ahead if you would like to pick up any units. We do not allow units to leave your inventory without a release.

CGS offers 3 different vapor shipper sizes; small (250 ½ cc straws/500 ¼ cc straws) medium (1750 ½ cc straws/3500 ¼ cc straws) and large (2450 ½ cc straws/4900 ¼ cc straws). CGS currently has 140 vapor shippers available. Vapor shipper availability varies at certain times of the year.

Absolutely! We can store embryos and units in our bulk tanks and add them to your inventory. Contact the office to arrange shipment or drop off of any units you need stored.

Yes, all bulls must complete our pre-entry health tests before entering the main facility for collection.
